Soaring into the spot of former North Adelaide haunts Cibo and 10# Cucina e Bar, Sparrow Kitchen & Bar brings a renewed vitality to the location, opening up the space with various indoor and outdoor seating options, and offering an impressively diverse menu of Italian/Spanish meals in tapas and main servings. It's quite suitable that Sparrow's menu covers so much ground, given its extended opening hours from breakfast right through to dinner and a post-meal drink and nibble. The fun begins at breakfast, with regular egg, fruit and sandwich options mingling among more refined choices such as the smoked cod and parmesan truffle omelette.
Light lunches and big dinners allow for some experimentation with the tapas and mains. Tapas delights include the smoked eel croquettes, and the blood sausage, cauliflower and sauternes, while the mains feature a host of meats, pastas, pizzas, risottos and seafood tastes, from braised goat leg to pork belly to the enticing four-cheese pizza featuring Asiago, goat's cheese, parmesan, bocconcini and rosemary. Complete the Mediterranean moment with a Sparrow Sangria, Spanish wine or even some dessert tapas.

Some of the worst service I've experienced
I've always wanted to try Sparrow but was disappointed by the experience. When we arrived there was tons of free tables, yet they seemed very upset that we hadnt booked. After we were seated we waited a very long time before they asked us if we wanted drinks or gave us a menu. After asking for some water we waited even longer before they gave it to us.
When we finally were served again to order our meals I ordered the gnocchi (too hungry for tapas at that stage). The meal was very lovely but was ruined by the lack of service.
It seemed like they wanted to serve everyone else but us (perhaps because we didnt book ahead??).

Lovely, lovely,lovely
On a family holiday from Sydney, we enjoyed a lovely evening at Sparrow. Fantastic staff, fantastic food and an overall fantastic experience. The Duck Donut is a must, as is the beef carpaccio. The mains were delicious and the pizza cooked to perfection. I think there is plently of food for the price(to disagree with a previous review). The raspberry and white chocolate popsicle for dessert was so delicious, my daughter ate mine and then ate another one which i reordered! Maybe we'll just have to visit again!

Good to finally get there
I'd heard about Sparrow and their cocktails and tapas. I think I was slightly misled as in some ways it didn't live up to expectations.
The service was really good with lovely attentive staff. We arrived early and had a drink at the bar and noticed the selection of meats in the nearby fridge on display. We queried this and were helped to pick a few on a tasting platter. This was a great idea and very tasty and the cocktails washed it down well. If we'd stopped at cocktails and the meat platter I'd have probably rated the experience higher and if we were to return, I'd only return for this experience.
We had dinner and I ordered tapas (too small a serve for the price) and a pizza. I was disappointed with the pizza as there was a wood oven there but the pizza wasn't cooked enough and was quite doughey.
I'd built this place up in my mind a bit and it wasn't quite the tapa's experience I was hoping for and it wasn't quite the pizza experience I was hoping for either. But as far as staff go, cocktails and the sliced meats and breads, it was great. I'm not in a hurry to go back but if i do, i'll just go for the sliced meats and the cocktails.

Great buzz
We enjoyed dinner here a few months ago. The place has a good vibe about it.
We took a chef from London and she was impressed with the menu and loved the king fish.
Definitely recommend to go with tapas and check out the pizza, (as mentioned in another review) it's excellent! The lemon tart for desert is sensational.
The staff were friendly and very attentive without being over the top.
Good selection of wines.
Over all a great night and would recommend to others.

So good we returned the next day for breakfast!!
We arrived at Sparrow a little too early for lunch (11am) but were told we could order either tapas or a pizza. We decided on the BBQ Rabbit Pizza Lge($21) and a couple of flat whites. The coffee was not outstanding, but very good all the same. When the pizza arrived we asked for the wine list (which was extensive yet reasonable) and asked the waiter to recommend a glass of red each. Both choices were outstanding and went brilliantly with the amazing rabbit pizza... the pizza was so good, easily the best I have had....and I have had a few pizzas in my time :) The interiors were amazing and interesting with a great covered and uncovered outside garden area. Too many elements to mention. Overall it was such a great experience we returned the following day for breakfast. I can recommend the Smoked Kingfish, it was amazing!!!! The combination of the cold smoked kingfish with the capers, the perfectly poached eggs, on brioche and hollandaise was to die for!!! Overall Sparrow was easily the best place we came across in Adelaide by far and if we return will be heading straight there!!!

Great Tapas
Our first visit to this relatively new but always full restaurant. Definitely a good pick. Well thought out tapas and italian menu. The food was presented well, tasted great and good advice from the waiting staff regarding portion sizes.
