Sosta Cucina

Simple but different. That's what you'll get upon being served one of Sotsa Cucina's northern Italian-inspired meals.

Head Chef Travis Humphery likes to keep things uncomplicated, holding back on the desire to over-flavour the dishes he creates. His pizzoccheri pasta dish highlights this flair for non-fuss, with ribbons of buckwheat pasta layered with lashing of potato, cabbage, taleggio cheese and sage.

This sleek and stylish bistro provides for an elegant dining experience with modern furnishing that match the class of the meals on offer.

Under-rated Italian!
Since we moved to this side of town - I have found this gem!
The Maitre D is a total fab and charm and the food is so warm and home cooking!
Everytime we sat down - we feel that we are back in little Italy regional restaurant. The service is top class and subtle and the food... its divine. In the span of 3 months we have returned to this restaurant 3 times with different friends and they all found this high standard of food
The pasta is unbelieveable - any of them! The specials are always exciting and the selection of local and Italian wine are fab!
I am so surprised that this place has not been awarded a Hat yet! Give them 1 hat any time.

Highly recommended!

how to create a lasting memory
Wanting to view "The Last Supper" I settled on dinner at SC, cos it was close & italian (supporting the theme); & we were rewarded with a wonderful evening.
The show as superb supported by a fanastic setting, & dinner was extremely complimentary.
We were welcomed at the door, seated at a (too?) small table in the front of the dining area, & then engaged by the owner.
He had the perfect approach; blending an informal style, with a bit of banter, & a complete knowledge of the menu & winelist. The engagement extended thru out the meal creating a relaxed atmoshere, supported with excellent service & great food.
We started, with his recommendation, with the shared appertisers of olives, cheese & anchovies - ideal as we could try everything & without having too much. This was supported by wonderful bread, oil & a great tasting pepper, & followed by snapper on cannoloni beans & raddichio for her, & duck on lentils for me, & a rocket, fennel & pear salad on the side.
To be honest the duck was probably a bit fatty, however the experience was so overwhelmingly positive it is almost unfair to mention it.
We dine out frequently & try many places; & while we dont have many bad experiences - Sosta's is one of the few to create a lasting impression - wanting us to return again - soon.

The perfect way to end a working week!
Working locally, I had heard great reports about Sosta from colleagues and friends alike, so I was looking forward to dining there very much. Upon arrival, my companion and I were greeted warmly and settled into a cosy space at the front of the dining room. A glass of Prosecco set the tone for the outstanding meal which was to follow. I enjoyed the Roast Meat of the Day which was a Rosemanry and Garlic infused Pork Loin served on a braise of cabbage with speck. The meat was cooked to perfection - succulent, flavousome and tender. The cabbage was also perfectly prepared and made a perfect "bed" for the pork. It was generous serve. I was in "heaven", it was a spectacular marriage of flavours and textures. My companion's Harpuka with Fennel ad Cherry Tomoatoes also looked amazing and there was silence at our table for some time as we savoured every mouthful....Soon, the Dessert Course arrived - "Bambolini". Three, warm, perfectly formed mounds of sugary doughnut pleasure filled with the coolest of vanilla custards served alongside a generous bowl of Lindt chocolate dipping sauce...a MUST for all diners at Sosta. The perfect end to a perfect meal. For a local restaraunt, Sosta really delivers an unforgettable dining experience whether it be casual or formal, they can accommodate. Don't miss this one, it is an absolutely worthwhile experience and make sure you try the "Bambolini", a signature dish of this beautiful establishment.

Great restaurant!
I was hanging in North Melbourne for a few days and treated myself here on the last night. It was a fantastic meal, had spaghetti with crab and bottorga (always wanted to try this, and it was great) for an entree and goat for a main, The goat had been braided then rolled in panchetta and wasn't what I was expecting but was beautiful. Had a side of the best roast pumpkin ever as well, great place. It has a very impressive wine list as well.
