Mismatched dinner plates, eye-catching trinkets, wall maps, tiles and pre-loved furnishings all lend this South American cafe-eatery an immediate charm.
Occupying a small nook on the Nicholson Street end of the Gertrude Street, the appealing interiors beckon behind arched windows, promising an intimate and character-filled experience, if nothing else. But thankfully, there is something else.
Those after a caffeine hit can expect no less than a smooth fair trade organic and Colombian single origin blend, the latter best served straight up. But while the coffee is good, one could find themselves easily tempted by the Colombian hot chocolate - go for the added Fresco cheese bits inside for a more authentic experience.
Diners can select from a variety of goodies served on arepas (breads made of corn), or empanadas with guacamole and picadillo. The arepa con huevo (scrambled eggs with spring onion and tomato on a crispy arepa) makes for a vibrant and tasty brunch item, nicely followed by some cocadas (Brazilian coconut macaroons) for a sweet finish.

This place is great
I met some friends here for brunch recently, It has a very charming interior, and the coffee and food was excellent. I had the cheese arepas and they were awesome, most of my friends got the beef arepas, and I'm definately trying that on my next visit. A great place for breakfast and lunch.
