Newtown's latest Latin offering Soffritto will please those who enjoy simple but deftly executed Mediterranean fare. Diners can expect a menu of seasonal delights that are given the Italian treatment. Depending on the time of year, the kitchen may yield dishes such as braised baby squid with caper, lemon and anchovies, or a main of roast wagyu rump with polenta and mushrooms. While the food exudes an understated elegance, diners will be pleased that prices here aren't going to require a second mortgage.
