SoBo rocks!
With its stunning views, alfresco feel and delicious food, what is not to like about this Bondi bastion of all things epicurean? I mourned when Hugo's took its leave, fearing that Campbell Parade would never be the same and yet SoBo has filled the void and then some. I am not sure which course I most enjoyed - the entree of buttered tortellini which was mouth watering, the chicken and green pea risotto, divine and oh, the desserts. For fear of waxing too lyrical to defy belief, I will just urge you to give it a try. At the very least, the views are truly to die for and encapsulate all that is the essence of Sydney.

Celebration
Went to Sobo last Saturday to celebrate an occasion with two friends. We started with a bottle of Veuve (of course) and then ordered the most amazing tempura crab that was on the special's board. It was served with a wonderful Asian salad. We also ordered the calamari which was also excellent and an antipasto plate. We ended up spending the afternoon there drinking wonderful cocktails and looking out over Bondi! Fantastic day and can't wait to go back.

Disappointing
Not quite the experience we were hoping for. While we were promised a table for 2 soon after arriving (a matter of clearing/setting a table) we were left at the bar uninformed for close to 30 minutes. When we did enquire about our table, we were told that 7 sittings had just arrived so they had to be attended to. Took a long time for bread and table water to arrive after ordering so nothing to nibble or sip on while we perused the menu. Steak was spoilt by its dryness - not the medium/well I'd requested but well and truly charred to pieces (and yes I know chefs think that anyone who orders anything more than 'medium rare' is a heathen).
The waitress did however pull out all the stops to ensure all was not lost for our evening. She was incredibly well-informed about the menu, and so friendly, professional and beautiful that if I was a man I'd have fallen in love with her myself!

Sobo - delightlful
Sobo has become one of our favourite places at Bondi. Great name - sobo for South Bondi. Fantastic food - always pleasantly surprised. Terrific service.
Our big suggestion is arrive before sunset - the view is amazing. We love to have a cocktail and look over the beach.
Highly recommeded.

Stand out service
The Sobo guys and girls went all out to make sure we had a great night. The service was exceptional: we were helpfully guided through the excellent wine-list, and nothing was too much trouble. Loved the salmon tartare starter. Can't wait to return.

Bigger and better than the old Hugo's
Absolutely amazing!!! A small group of us were pleasantly surprised with what they've done with the new Hugo's.
It is tucked away on the south side of Bondi Beach - with some of the best views of Bondi.
The serice, atmosphere and food were exceptional - and the cocktails are even better!
In particular we loved the steam lobster floating island! Just a tastebud delight. Also try the quail and mushroom pithivier. In terms of mains our table loved the escalope of salmon with Champagne.
Although we didn't try the breakfast menu, we did view it and can't wait to try what looks like - one of the more interesting and inventive brekkie menus that I've seen.
Thoroughly recommended!!!!
