Worst Service !!
Well... being a local resident,I tried this Snakebean place with a friend during the week.
It seems the waiter was too lazy to come over to the table we were sitting at and proceeded to shout to ask us what we wanted.
I decided to be polite and got up and approached him to give my order where he asked for payment immediately which i thought was a bit rude.
$14.90 for a main plate ,a small beef dish !
Rude young cashier .The prices are to expensive,i am a local resident and wont be back.
Rude ,to the snakebean management, have your waiters get off their asses to serve you ,and why is payment upfront necessary ?
I wondered why we were the only customers in there.

Brilliant Spot
Not sure if 'muchogusto' has been to the same snakebean I go to 4 times a week! This place is everything it says it is. Cheap, friendly and great food. I have had most things on the menu and they are great value for money. As for the chicken noodle dish - it would have to be one of the best and most tasty dishes on the menu. Horses for courses I guess - but check it out yourself before you judge it on muchogusto's experience. Make sure you try the crispy prawns in pastry - they are so good!Keep it up guys - we love your work!

Promising, but let down
What a disappointment. We picked up a menu last week and decided to give this cute little shopfront a try. Service and atmosphere were fine. Food was not. The fried spring rolls (they were out of the rice paper rolls) had clearly been frozen and were tasteless and gluey. The beef was so salty it was barely edible; the vegetables, including the lemon garnish, were withered and appeared to have been chopped several days ago judging by the brownish edges; the noodle dish was a lukewarm soggy mess of sauce and undercooked chicken. Where were the spices and flavours other posts have raved about? Am usually willing to give new restaurants a second go, but this was too appalling to merit a repeat visit. Did something happen to the chef since the last reviews were written?

Very happy
The papaya salad was very hot, but exactly what I was looking for!! The portion is not that big, but I went out with my friend and four dishes and rice did a great job -and we spent $15 each! The waiters were very friendly and I will definitely go back there soon.

The best papaya salad this side of Thailand
I have recently returned from Thailand and have been trying to find somewhere that I can get a papaya salad that is true to what I was eating from the small stalls in the back streets of Bangkok... I've found it! But I won't just leave it at that - You HAVE to also try the salt & pepper prawns - great to go with the salad. The rest of my meal was chicken larb and the chicken and green mango rice paper roll - all fantastic! I'll be back again soon.

Energy on Oxford
Snakebean is a hole in the wall eatery offering fresh, flavoursome asian food. The decor is simple but not spartan (there is colour - it is not a sterile white box) with small tables and stools reasonably well spaced.

We visited mid week at about 8.30pm with most tables taken and a constant flow of people for takeaway.

The food was great - the betal leaf was subtle, the roast duck and chilli jam tender and full of flavour. We had the fish special and the slow cooked beef (I just luv the flavour anise provides) as our main.

Service is slick and low on attitude - in fact the staff really look like they enjoy working at Snakebean. The food arrives promptly (we asked for it to be paced out a little). And the best thing it was great value.

Don't come here if you want a lingering meal but do come if you want fresh interesting food to fuel you up for the rest of your night.
