Six Keys

No excuses for forgetting the address of Six Keys, a soulful restaurant and bar that's located, as chance would have it, at 6 Keys Street, Beaumaris. Along the bayside commercial strip, Six Keys is the kind of place you take the family or a group of friends out to for good-value, hearty meals that won't break the bank. Luckily, the Euro-Mediterranean menu isn't made up of just the usual suspects; it's peppered with dishes such as Sicilian-style fish stew, fennel seed and apple-braised pork osso buco and a raspberry souffle with white chocolate and Amaretti ice-cream.

I will be coming back again for more
I am a local and I tried Six Keys last night spontaneously. I had the pan fried gnocchi special with chicken and it was really delightful. My companion had the salami and pecorino pizza and was pleased with that, although felt it could have been even better with a few olives. Service was friendly enough but we wondered if they were one staff member short because there was just one man and one girl waiting tables. It was a little tough getting attention when required (e.g. ordering more wine or dessert). We had a sneaky peek in the kitchen as we walked past it on arrival - it looks clean and very organised which is always reassuring. We will be back soon for the chicken salad and rib eye. Atmosphere / decor is relaxing. I think it'd be a great venue for weekend breakfast or brunch and hope they offer that down the track wandering down with the dog in winter for eggs, coffee and the papers... perfect!
