Set in one of Brisbane's finest dining locales, with stunning river views and a vibrant, contemporary indoor/outdoor design, this stylish restaurant ticks all the boxes. The restaurant and bar combo is expertly handled - the fragrant dishes may be all that can pull you from the frothy cocktails and fine wines.

Siana's open kitchen provides a window to the world of award-winning chef Liam Nealon as he creates well-balanced dishes that blend modern Asian cuisines. With dining available at both communal tables and private lounges, it should be easy to find a space to gorge on this quality grub.

There are better places to eat in Brisbane
Let's begin with the good news. The location is superb and the waitstaff are attentive and efficient. The open plan layout is tidy, but rather noisy, I guess it could be a good place to make fresh social contacts. After that it is all negative. Markup on wine is scandalous. The naan specialities are overpriced, dull and heavy. My lamb curry was simply a disgrace for the price (for any price). The lamb was of very poor quality, and came covered in an undistinguished curry-flavoured gravy adorned with a single cherry tomato possibly out of respect for my 5 helpings of fruit and veg. per day. What a waste of a prime site.

Great atmosphere and view, food is so so
The evening started out great; we were greeted and served right away. Siana is on the second floor of the Riparian plaza on the Eagle Street Pier - it's a prime location overlooking the Story Bridge & Kangaroo point. Views and ambiance are fantastic; the drinks were well done, but expensive. The service started out nicely, waitstaff was very attentive. We started with pork dim sum, which was nicely done. After that, things went down hill.

I ordered Lamb Naan, my wife ordered the wok fried fish - both were served together. My wife enjoyed her main, mine (the Lamb Naan) was cold - it was as if it was cooked the day before and served to me. The waitstaff 'left us alone' for around 30 minutes; I finally flagged a waiter down to inform him of the situation - he quickly rectified it by offering another main or the re-serve of the original.

I chose the same and it was delivered hot - as it should have been originally. But it was too late, what started out as a great dinner was ruined. I won't be returning to this restaurant - there are too many tried and true and up and coming places in Brisbane.

I think Siana's sweet spot is happy hour cocktails....

Little treats
Ok, I love a bit of Siana action on a Friday night after work where everyone in a suit from miles around mills out on the balcony and enjoys a few champagnes. I won a voucher to eat there and checked it out on a quiet Monday night (I think dining there on a Friday night would be waaaay to noisy). The food we ordered was great, but I always feel a little weird parting with a hefty wad of cash for Asian food because you can get it so cheaply in the Valley. I'm glad I didn't order a normal chinese or curry meal as I would have felt ripped off. We ordered the dinner platter and the dessert platter for two and it was really fun as we got to try heaps of little things and get a bit of everything. I probably wouldn't go back there if I had to pay full price though...

Funky place, funky menu
The new kid on the block, Siana has a fairly basic but varied menu, with great views overlooking the river. The service was good and everyone enjoyed the food (deep-fried snapper with a green papaya salad was my choice, which arrived specatularly on a large glass platter adorned with a green curry sauce). The Siana bombe is exceptionally good.
