Shogun

Decorated with red lanterns and furnished with black lacquered tables, this restaurant offers a slew of traditional Japanese cuisine. If you desire, you can sit at a teppanyaki table and watch the chef's expert knife skills, absorbing the unfolding smells, sounds and colours. Japanese dishes such as shabu-shabu - cooked in a vat of boiling water - are available here, as are the staple plates of sushi and sashimi. Those wanting a truly authentic experience can take off their shoes and sit in the tatami area at a table positioned on the floor.

Yummo - I keep going back
This place has a great atmosphere and friendly staff. There menu is great, and I've enjoyed everything I've eaten here. And everything is really reasonably priced. The only thing that I don't order is their various Yakitori, it's nice, but not really amazing and I think there other food is much better. I will always look forward to eating at Shogun!

Super Shogun
Attended Shogun for a family occasion and this was the best resturant exeperience for some time. We sat in the tatami area and it was great. We all had a Dinner menu, (entree, miso, main + rice, dessert) with varied mains (eel, seafood, chicken, prawns and beef).
Meals were served together and hot. Wine list was not huge but good selection and reasonable prices.
We would recommend , but you need to book.

Fantastic restaurant
I had lunch here with a friend, and it was one of best experiences Ive had (of Japanese food) in Australia so far. The food was superb (the sashimi very fresh - dont know which restaurant the first reviewers went), and the service very friendly and professional.

keep up the good work!!

Great night out!
Food was very good and authentic, as is the whole dining experience. Beer was somewhat over-priced, considering it was a Japanese beer brewed in Australia. The sushi and sashimi was fresh and tasty!

Excellent experience
I went with two girlfriends on a busy Saturday night after one of them assured me every time she had been it was great. Thankfully she was right. The service was lovely, not slow at all and very attentive. The kitchen made us some fantastic vegetarian sushi rolls (not on the menu). We really enjoyed the tempura, sushi and sashimi (the fish was obviously very fresh). Also the price was great.

I am not sure which retaurant the other reviewers went to, but we had a great time. And I note that you can't really see much of the kitchen, and if you go the teppanyaki option it all gets cooked in front of you.

bad allround
We recently dined here, and it was possibly the worst food I have ever eaten. I thought the sashimi wasn't fresh-tasting and the sushi was horrid. The mains were even worse, the fish was watery and tasteless. I thought the chicken tasted under-cooked and fatty - I feel bad posting this review but the food really was crap.

Utterly hopeless
Geez I have been to some terrible restaurants in my time, but this one just about tops them all. We ordered three seats at the teppanyaki area and sat down. Drinks and meals were ordered. Our drinks came out and so did my miso soup. However we were left waiting and waiting for over an hour for the chef to come out and cook. It seems they only had one chef who was running between the teppanyaki area and the kitchen.

He started to cook some prawns for a couple opposite us and then left the prawns sitting on the cooker whilst he went into the kitchen to do something else. Five mins later, no chef and those poor prawns were looking waaay overdone. The couple were not impressed either.

By the time the chef did come out to cook our mains, I had complained and we were waking out of the place. They had the decency to not charge us for the drinks. Overall, the food that we saw was extremely overcooked, remember we didn't even get ours! The service was terrible and the kitchen doesn't look fit to serve food in.
