At this traditional teppanyaki restaurant, Shinju's silent chefs work their trade as conversation floats through the steam rising from the barbecue centrepiece. These entertaining artists at the hot plate deserve respect as they prepare food fast and plentiful. Chef's suggestions with set menus are definitely the winner here: each serve is a different taste to be savoured, beginning with salad and soup of fish and meat, sporadically intermixed with vegetables and rice. It's not only the food and service that are traditionally styled; each step past the front door takes you further into a Japanese setting. The front bar's subtly defined pond calms your mood for the evening, while entry to the barbecue area is via a miniature bridge. Group bookings suit this type of outing: larger groups can be treated to their own chef and private area.
