Not your moneys worth
Hubby and I have been once after hearing rave reviews from a friend. We were quite dissapointed. $42 gets you an all you can eat ticket to their buffet and suppsedly 3 small dishes that can't be served via buffet (tempura fried etc). In saying that, we only got 1 beef dish served while tables around us got all three and in second servings. The hot food was all bland, just basic. Felt like the chef would assume we wouldn't know the diference between good and bad Japanese so they opted to serve the cheap and untastful versions. The best bit was the sushimi. Fresh and almost melted in your mouth, but between hubby and I, we were definately not able to eat $84 worth of raw fish on our date night let alone any other

Shimizu Floreat
On Friday the 9th January I took eight people to Shimizu after reading good reviews on restaurant guide. On entering the waitress sought our booking name and proceeded to lead us to our table, halfway there she announced that we had to pay before eating, leaving my guests in limbo while I paid for the meal. On paying I noticed that internet advertised price had become inflated, with little accountability coming from the cash collector, I let it go as my guests had still been left milling around. This was the last we saw of anyone apart from the young guy who was keeping the plates cleared for the entire restaurant. The cold food was fresh and well presented and sashimi, sushi and salads etc were well enjoyed by all. The hot food offered was quite average, not so tasty spring rolls, stringy beef, fried rice on the whole was left on the plates. The atmosphere was reasonable although some of us had the bright sun in our view through light blinds for a while, there were a number of flies around our food and in the cold section. The small playground out the front of the restaurant was a pleasant diversion for the children in the restaurant as offered good viewing for parents. Overall we all left earlier than we needed to and enjoyed a couple of ales at a tavern nearby.

One word - Fab! Fab fab fab fab fab!
What a great experience. The food was fresh, tasty, unusual and more. Great way to try many of the foods Japanese style dining has to offer without ordering a main of something you may not enjoy. A Japanese buffet - so much better than a western style buffet. Well done. Congratulations. We'll be back everytime we are in Perth

Disappointing
The best part of the whole experience was the fresh sashimi. Overall, the buffet items were limited and items which had to be ordered from the kitchen took a long time to arrive and we had to remind the waitresses a few times of our order. At $25 per child 3 years and above, it's way too pricey and I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to families.

Superb
Wow! If you want fresh sushimi, sushi, and an extensive selection of tempura look no further. This is a modern restaurant run by attentive staff and management. It does get booked out quickly though. At $38 per head all you can eat? I dont know how they can do it. If what you want isn't at the buffet the chef cooks it for you and makes you feel as if you are doing him a favour by ordering it. Licensed and BYO, I can't speak highly enough about this place.
