Good value pub with comfortable atmosphere
We stopped at this pub for lunch (and some cold drinks). Though quite busy, we easily found a great booth seat inside in the air conditioned cool. The service at the bar was quick and very friendly.

The food on offer was standard pub fare at reasonable prices. The servings were extremely generous and arrived in very quick time.

We felt so relaxed and comfortable that we decided to return that evening for dinner. This time we took a table outside and enjoyed the night air. Once again the atmosphere was great and the service was very efficient, welcoming and friendly. The chosen food was extremely good...the pork cutlets were succulent and full of flavour.

We will definitely return to this great pub on our next trip to Darwin.

Alfresco in the Top End
On entering Shenannigans I was somewhat surprised to find only bar like seating such as tall tables with tall stools. There may have been one or two dining type tables but certainly not my idea of a dining facility. Outside on the ample verandah however was plenty of tables and chairs for two to eight people. The place was pretty full when we arrived at around 7.30 but we were soon sat at a table for two. Within a very short time we were asked if we wished to order drinks while we looked at the menu, but didn't feel impelled to do so. My partner and I both ordered a glass of water and a glass of house red which turned out to be very drinkable.
My partner then ordered the Irish stew at $16.50, while I chose the bangers and champ at $22.
The stew was more like a soup, but was very tasty and the champ with the sausages was creamy and had plenty of spring onion through it. Both dishes were enjoyable.
Partway through our meal friends called to ask if they could join us, and the staff were more than happy to accommodate us and helped us move to a larger table. This time we were seated directly below a fan which really suited one of the new comers who was not faring so well in the Darwin heat.
All in all, our experience at Shenannigans was very pleasant, and one I'd be happy to repeat.

As Irish travellers in Australia, this was one of the nicest, authentic places we visited. The staff were very multicultural, but seemed to have captured the essence of Irish hospitality. The service was fantastic, as were our meals, and we returned for another two nights out! Definitely worth a look, either for a dance or a meal.
