The wines are not the only star pupils at this classy cellar door and restaurant, which is home to fine Italian foods cooked by chef Ricky Mandozzi (who cut his teeth working at Melbourne greats Taxi, MoVida and Lamaro's). His specialty is pizza, making the dough fresh in the outdoor oven, and topping his creations with fine ingredients such as prosciutto, reggiano, gorgonzola and pancetta. The rotating specials board is also worth watching: you may find anything from duck leg cassoulet to octopus carpaccio ready for the tasting. It's no wonder that this award-winning winery continues to caress the palates of many a gourmand.
