Best Italian in Sydney
We have been going to Sevardi's for over six years now. The owners have put together an uncompromisingly excellent combo of atmosphere, great Italian food and friendly service for me and many friends who have become regulars. We simply love going there and enjoy the minimalist decor, the gorgeous home-made pastas, veal/pork (loved the slow-cooked pork belly last visit) and fresh seafood (for entree, try NZ whitebait or scallops in pancetta) - sometimes the specials are to absolutely die for so don't pass them up either.
We don't usually eat desert so we can't vouch for these. Over the six years, we have never been disappointed by the food freshness/quality and the fun nights we have had there - without doubt a great fine dining experience.

Dinner at Sevardi's
I chose a local restaurant for convenience and did not have great expectations and what I got was pretty much what I expected.
My chosen meal of chicken breast with a mustard sauce was edible but nothing spectacular. I could have cooked this equally as well if not better, as I have a great interest in food and cooking. For me the intracies of taste are the most excting part of eating out and this meal was very ordinary in flavour. To be fair one other member had "homemade gnocchi" which was delicious. The other member of the party had a lamb dish which also was pretty ordinary in flavour. We had a green salad which was dressed with a balsamic vinegar dressing in a heavy-handed way which overpowered the salad. For dessert, I had panna cotta with a caramel sauce which I doubt was homemade as it was extremely thick and sticky. I had initially asked about the sauce because I have previously had a lovely dessert spoiled with bottled caramel sauce. The cinnamon ice cream to me was very nice but once again quite stromg in flavour and possibly a bit to overpowering for the normal palate. Service was good and the atmosphere very pleasant. My overall feeling is that the chef is heavy-handed with flavourings. This was my second meal at this restaurant and likely my last as my expectations for a meal of that price are higher than that delivered.
