Before its refurbishment, this eatery had a quaint, traditional feel. Some touches of authenticity remain, however, with ornamental pieces set into the main wall and a gold-framed, oil-painted landscape hanging on another - which contrasts with the metallic silver bar counter below it and the massive audio-visual screen on the rear wall, which projects the image of a Korean country house. The neatly sized room provides enough space for a two-tiered trolley to deliver treats to your table, which you'll find set with disposable paper coverings and cutlery for Western-style dining.
Whereas Australia has VB, Korea has OB, and you can sip on this while you decide which hotpot to order. Chef/owner Jae Yol Lee recommends the anglerfish and mussels cooked with vegetables in a spicy broth. A Korean-style stew tempts with soft tofu, clams, egg and red chilli; and lunch box specials of garlic chicken are popular. A side of homemade dumplings never goes astray. Finish with a dessert of sweet persimmon punch with pine nuts, cinnamon and ginger.
