No Yummy Mummies here!
With a couple of young skater punk dudes manning the helm of this off-beat establishment, the vibe is definitely high key. Genteel retirees that drift in occasionally from cruise ships and ferries moored at nearby Station Pier, tend to back out again; it's a noisy, happening place.
Buzzing with staff from the Ad Agency upstairs and funky Port Melbourne blow-ins, you'll find the clientele are serious about their coffee. Wez - the barista - makes a sublime cuppa from a superlative espresso to a soy chai latte decorated with an artful honey cobweb - and then there's his hear- stopping mocha.
Cranky - a chef with a penchant for the multi-cultural influence - serves up innovative meals, that are not cheap by cafe standards, but flavoursome and crafted with quality ingredients. Regulars love themed Fridays which range from barbecues to roasts. If you're on a budget, the fresh sandwiches and foccacias are hard to beat, and early birds should get in for brekkie too. Just watch out though, sometimes the Ad Agency takes over the space for a breakfast meeting and you feel like a goose when you stumble into the midst of it.
The places wraps up around 3pm, and lunch sells through fast, so don't leave your run too late.
