Seasalt

Seasalt is the seafood version of Russell Armstrong's restaurant at the Inchcolm Hotel, and it's even better than the original, making it one of the top Brisbane seafood fine-diners.

The closest you cen get to fine European cuisine
My friend and I are eating out regularly. We had a fantastic all over dining experience at Seasalt.
The restaurant is small but cozy with a little siamese fighting fish on each single table.
We possibly were the first guests to arrive and the last to leave. We started with oysters which were very fresh and nicely shucked. I then had the Hervey Bay scallops and the venison which I both entirely enjoyed.
Both the scallops and the venison where perfectly cooked and the dishes are sized to even fit in a cheese or dessert after.

We had high expectations but won't be returning
This was our first dining experience at Seasalt, and we had high expectations. Unfortunately the meals were disappointing and the service erred on rude.

The salmon was dry with little to flavour it except a lukewarm serve of potatoes. The wagyu beef was tender but there was no discernable marbling and it was unable to be truly savoured as it was completely overwelmed by the lardons and the jus. For mains exceeding $30 it was not value for money and there are certainly better options to be had in Brisbane.

The wait staff were unfriendly and we felt hurried to order and then ignored as we waited to order another glass of wine, have our plates cleared, pay the bill. No-one enquired as to our satisfaction with the meal.

Overall a disappointing experience for a restaurant held in such high regard.

Worth A Visit
It may be part of a small hotel, but this place offered a pleasant surprise. The food was brilliant (the swordfish /Moreton Bay bug combo is very tasty, as is the lamb), the service prompt and friendly without being overbearing, and the ambience ok. Overall, good value for money and probably more suited to a small group of four, but as a couple, we did enjoy it. We'll be back for sure.

Good Food / Perfect Portions
We had a table of 8, but the meals were quick, the entrees were good, and the swordfish was fantastic.

unexpected surprise
When I checked into the Inchcolm hotel, I was expecting a modest hotel restaurant. Seasalt provided the unexpected. It was intimate and buzzing with full tables on a weeknight. The staff were gracious, though I found myself waiting for several larger tables to be serviced before I received any attention. Perhaps my fault for walking in without a booking. I had the special, fish with asparagus, nestled in a velvety champagne cream sauce. The snapper was substituted from the original special, but came out piping hot and obviously prepared with care - despite the fact that it was the later end of the evening. Each bite was a delight. My house salad was simple, but satisfying, interesting greens accented with anise flavor and topped with a grilled artichoke heart. Everything was beautifully presented, with a nice selection of wines by the glass. This kitchen clearly cares deeply about its food - loving attention to detail without being fussy.

Impressed
I dined at Seasalt @ Armstrong's for the first time tonight and I was quite impressed with the overall experience. Within the last month I have dined at two of Brisbane's top restaurant (Circa & Restaurant II) and the experience was equal if not better.

Although it doesn't have the elegance as the above restaurants that I have visited, Seasalt does have that intimate/cosy feel to it which is what I like. The food was fantastic - good flavours and wonderfully presented. I will definitely go back there again.
