fabulous food & service
I ate at Scusami for a business lunch last week - staff were friendly & attentive, food outstanding & I noticed the more casual area quite busy with groups having a more informal lunch or just a coffee. It will remain one of my favourites in Melbourne.

Terrbile experience
This restaurant has two eating areas both accessed from the same door. They falsely advertise with a string of cheaper options (2 03 3 course options) out front to get you in then instead of asking you where to sit lead you into the more expensive area without any request as to which options you would like. As both areas are labelled by the under the restaurant name of Scusami you'd expect to be notified of the difference. But I moved past that last night as it was a special birthday dinner so I will move on.
The waiter then sits you down and orders drinks beer / wine (completely overpriced again) and on a very hot Melbourne night we were asked if we wanted water brought to the table. Service kicks off pretty well .... well some 50 - 60 minutes later when we left - still no water, feeling somewhat thirsty
Now the food - If you are on a Jenny craig style diet - then portion size here will still make you hungry. The main Prawn dish - 5 prawns, a salad that was tiny and three small and shrivelled baked potatoes. This dish was awful. It was undercooked (blood still running out the prawns when the bodies were broken away from the heads) and completely flavourless. Now just in case your wondering the price $55.00. Yes 5 prawns for $55 $11.00 each and undercooked and flavourless.
To be fair the other dish a linguine pescatore was very nice but again it was more like a 1/2 size entree dish but .. I'll complete the night...
I thought I would be fair and tell the waiter about the bad prawn dish - with the expectation that at those prices you'de expect something to be done, well after he consulted the chef I was told I didn't know what I was talking about and the prawns were fine, they just taste different because I was comparing them to the prawn in the linguine. No consultation on what I was comparing them too ... just I was being told this was how I was thinking. No acknowledgement that they were flavourless and undercooked
I thought to be fair and give them every opportunity to recitfy the issues before I slagged them off on the internet I would give them 2 more opportiunities to remedy the problem last night. But alas you guessed it - fobbed off each time. So I thought I'd give em a fourth an rang them today low and behold the good assistant manager Nikolai also fobbed me off hence I am on here writing what I hope wil prevent others from what was a pretty bad overall experience last night.
After eating the maels me the linguine - I left feeling pretty hungry and the wife after eating 3 or her 5 prawns well you guessed it she also left a bit peckish. I have never been one to whinge about price and portion size so long as the food is good - this was crapola people and stay completely clear.
