Seeing in a new dawn as Scopri Italian Food & Wine, the former Arrivederci of Carlton is under new ownership with a fresh and modern take on classic Italian dining. Drawing upon a diverse range of regional flavours, head chef Salvatore Caccioppoli crafts seasonal-based menus that emphasise simplicity and premium produce.
While you have the option to go for an express lunch or group menu, most are likely to pick from the a la carte menu of antipasti, pasta e riso (pasta and risotto), carne e pesce (meat and fish), contorini (sides), and dolce (desserts). Among the highlights are the house-made pork sausage, the handmade 'guitar' spaghetti and, from the desserts, a baked ricotta cheesecake with candied fruit.

Scopri
We had a large family function here on a Sunday. They opened especially for us. We went to quite a few high end Italian restaurants for a place that would suit us. We have elderly Italians in our family and young children. Many places we enquired about had restrictions on time, minimum spends, amount of space available and a reduced menu for a family function. From the moment we met Allison and Anthony they were different. They were completely accomodating to any requirements. There is a small area to use as a dance floor, we bought in our own music and they let us really move the whole thing along at our own pace. We were there for a lunch and they seemed unconcerned with how long we stay for. They had printed out special menus for us, made a congratulations blackboard and helped organize flowers. The food was perfect. We have a range of palates in our group and some very fussy ones. From a desire for traditional Italian, to a desire for groovy quality food of the moment. Everyone loved everything, and I'm ashamed to say there's a few in our group who almost enjoy an opportunity to complain! Honestly it was a perfect function, and Allison and Anthony were the perfect hosts!
The ONLY slightly negative thing is that it can get a bit noisy with the hard surfaces - but we were a big rowdy bunch playing bad loud bogan music, so it was probably our own fault!

Surprised
I have live in the area for most of my life and this orange( now gray) building never beckoned me to come in-I wish it did or maybe this was the time for me.... I loved the the cosy, warm and relaxing environment as soon as I walk through the doors. The staff were polite and knowledgeable on the menu and wine list. The wagyu beef Bresaola is beautiful. How this cured meat melts in your mouth is amazing. The homemade pasta is so light and smooth its speaks for itself, while the rabbit is pink and moist offset by the fresh mint and green olives - the thought of it makes me salivate. I can't wait to go back again. I recommend it to anyone.
