Once considered a run-down dive, this suburban hotel has jumped on Sydney's gastro-pub steam train and reinvented itself as a first-class destination for quality nosh and stylish designer cocktails. All the pub essentials still remain - including cold beers on tap, live sport broadcasts and gaming facilities - and it's not just for the grown-ups: a giant playground and video games mean the kids can play, too. The decor is typical of a suburban hotel/bistro but very clean and tidy, and the staff is attentive and friendly without being too invasive. All in all, a great destination for the whole family, where there is no compromise on the quality of food or service for the parents.
