Love the Siam chicken!
There are a few competing Thai restaurants in the vicinity of Subi (most notably Lana and Amarind Thai) that we regularly frequent and are tip-top! But after always passing by Sawadee, we finally took the plunge and decided to dine there... and we were glad we did!
As soon as we sat down, some local patrons who regularly dine there with their family, insisted we try the Siam chicken which was a bit of a signature dish and we were glad we did as it was really a stand out!
We couldn't go past the staple pad Thai and green curry and we weren't disappointed.
The service was not the best in terms of coming to take the orders, but having said that if I was looking for service as part of my experience I would be going to a fine dining restaurant and pay the marked up price for it. I thought the prices was more than reasonable in respect to comparision places in the vicinity and the food fantastic incl a more than generous serving of a 'small' rice, nice!
Yep there is corkage, pretty common nowadays, BYO wine only. You can also purchase a bottle of wine or beer there anyway. I found their wine pricing not too bad compared to other places, the selection fairly quaffing quality. I prefer to bring my own anyway.
I must agree, it is a little gem. We now have Sawadee as part of our dining rotation!

Pleasant food but dissapointing service
The pleasant meal was overshadowed by the $7 corkage price per bottle. We rang before hand to enquire if the restaurant was byo and we told it normally was but we could bring our own wine if we wanted. We felt that the owner probably should have told us at the point that the corkage was so much. The meal was enjoyable, the decor was not fancy but still pleasant.
