A little bit of the old Paddington lingers at Sassafras. Mismatched furniture and a somewhat dishevelled garden make the place look like a share house for a bunch of arts students. Luckily, it's not sleek city style that Sassafras is after. Their innovative brekkies are a hit with the weekend crowd: try the orange and buckwheat pancakes washed down with a Grinders coffee or two. The hearty soups are warming in winter and are available to takeaway: the Italian sausage and lentil soup is flavoursome and served with lashings of Turkish bread.

Need more staff??
Love love love this cafe....Sunday morning breakfasts are awesome - beautiful spot to chill - kickback, read the paper & sip a coffee, although this is tainted by the average service & the very long wait for food. Would definitely recommend if you have a lot of time to kill.

good food, decent portion size, service okay...great homemade banana bread
I have been a regular here for breakfast for the past 5 years...why I left for elsewhere was the cost was creeping higher and the service getting lower. I get that weekends are busy, and I get that not everyone can have a table inside, but a genuine smile and attempt to make our experience their a pleasurable one is not consistent. Go for good hearty food. Don't expect great service. Coffee about a 5 out of 10. Tomato relish 9 out of 10 and their home made banana bread the best in Brisvegas (have it toasted!)

Global Recession???
Being just a walk from Sassafrass, my girlfriend and i have often made the Sunday morning breakfast trip. Despite their large menu, i always order eggs benedict with bacon. The servings have been more than enough until recently. Could just be tightening the belt around costings, but the portions have dropped only very slightly and so has the quality.
Despite this, i still heavily recommend it for anybody, and am looking forward to it again

Best cakes
If you love a great cake with flavour & calories you can't beat the homemade cakes at Sassafras. Lashings of icing, fresh ingredients and mixed with things like berries, Lindt chocolate & fantastic combinations you wouldn't dream of. Good size servings with fresh cream. Great coffee in a decent size mug. Service can be a little slow, but the place is generally very busy. I enjoy the ecletic old fashioned surroundings, a true Paddington icon.

Lovely, affordable cafe food with generous servings. The back garden is filled with umbrellas and wooden tables creating a very pretty and calm venue to read the paper and enjoy a tasty breakfast or lunch.
