Set in the Sassafras Creek art gallery, this charming cafe offers diners guide-book quality food in the Kurrajong Village. Try such creations as the locally cold-smoked chargrilled beef sirloin with rosemary potatoes; or roasted Mediterranean vegetables, rocket and semidried tomato butter. There's an open fireplace for the cold winter nights, and, for those who prefer to dine alfresco, seating in the front courtyard and on the back verandah.

Dinner at Sassafras
I haven't bothered to write a review of a restaurant before but feel strong about giving a good review to Sassafras Creek. As our group of 4 walked in the host greeted us with "Booking for Haines" which made us feel expected and welcome (rather than have someone look down a list to see if you've booked etc.). The service was brilliant and the food unusual and superb. We loved how the chef came out and spoke to all the tables, discussing the menu and how he goes about developing it etc. We will certainly return and have already recommended it to friends.

Lunch at Sassafras
Our lunch today was terrific. How lucky locals are to have a restaurant of such quality on their doorstep. I had a pan-fried salmon fillet on salad. The fish was nicely cooked (a tad overdone), beautifully presented on a bed of fresh, high quality greens. The greens contained lightly poached and crunchy green beans which are just as I like them. My partner had the chicken parcel special which was very tasty and no skimping on the yummy ingredients. Coffee was excellent. We booked early and were lucky to have a window seat. I am mobility disabled and was really looking forward to the lovely view as well as the delicius lunch. My high expectations were fulfilled!
