If this place was any closer to the water, you'd have to swim. A tiny local secret, this purple building is almost a part of the group of shops in Beach Road, but it slipped down to the sand. The inside is dominated by the open-fronted wood oven (which presumably they built the shop around, because it didn't come in the door). The oven has magical properties, emanating a deep orange glow that could guide ships and wafting out fabulous garlicky pizza aromas.
The owner said you can watch dolphins jump in the bay. I nodded, went outside, and one did. Hmm. This little pizza place commands an uninterrupted view of the bay, from inside and from the outdoor tables wheeled out in fine weather.
Pizza flavours include all the standards, plus a wonderful selection of gourmet creations, such as kangaroo mettwurst or Thai seafood. All pizzas are calorie conscious - these are not the salt and cheese extravaganzas of the nasty chains. Gluten-free and soy cheese are also options for those so inclined. It's friendly and BYO, so grab a longneck and watch the sunset at Sandy Bay.
