Bringing to Moonee Ponds an authentic Thai dining experience that's above the usual fare, Samanee Thai Restaurant focuses on delicate flavours cooked fresh for your enjoyment. Going by their real names, the curry, stir-fry and salad dishes include massaman neua (a traditional slow-cooked beef curry), karee puffs (or curry puffs), and khao pad gai (an aromatic Thai rice dish). Adding a local touch, the wine list is mainly Victorian, though a few Tasmanian and Adelaidian drops make the cut. Coated in brown and salmon hues, this warm eatery offers a soothing environment for a nice dinner.

Samanee
This is a great Thai place for a nice dinner. The decor is lovely and modern with a soft touch of candle in golden lotus holder on the table.
We had seared prawn salad and pan fried scallop for the entrees. Both of them are to dine for with amazing flavours and fresh ingredients. The prawns are well balanced of heat, sour, sweet and salty. The staff told us to eat the leaf (I for got the name) with the scallop and this was so wonderful.
We decided to keep our mains simple with chicken green curry and fish ginger. However, we were very surprised how authentic they are. The Thai eggplants in this delicate green curry make it a winner. The Rockling fillets, ginger and oyster mushroom are perfectly cooked and juicy in the light sauce. The steam rice here is even special with a little bit of brown rice in it. Yum Yum!
Oh, the Rainforest cocktail is very refreshing. The wine list is far better than other Thai places. They know what the good wines are
We extremely recommend Samanee for the authentic Thai food, great wines, relaxing ambience and pleasant staff. My mouth is watering again just thinking back to last Saturday!
