Great Food, Great Atmosphere
Our sons 22nd Birthday, we had Banquet Menu C, the food was cooked to perfection. When we ordered a drink it came out straight away, no waiting. Nicole the hostess was great, we had a great time. We will be going back again for a meal. Loved it. And did I mention the view over the Docklands was great, we saw boats going past on the water, very peaceful.

Nice meals, average service.
We had nice meals, the meat was a tiny bit overcooked but it still tasted reasonable, good quality in fact. Definitely filling and I will go again.
The service however was not great, we had a waiter who we hope was new to the job. Because she seemed very nervous in taking orders and spilled my scotch and coke all over me at the end of the night. But hey, im sure this is not a common thing, as I said ide go again, and I am very picky with my Greek food!

Food was not warm enough
We were here on a Sunday night and had the Banquet A for 2 people, $45 each. The dips platter had about 2 tablespoons of each of the 3 traditional dips, ie., taramosalata, tzatziki and eggplant dips, served with pita bread which was quite dry. Then they served the saganaki, 2 large triangles, one for each of us,and it was delicous. It was served with some side green salad, more as garnish, but the waiter took the plate away before we had a chance to have the salad. Then they served a small serving of crumbed deep fried calamari, it was tender and nice. Then we had the meat platter with 2 chicken souvlakis, sausage, 4 meatballs - qty wise it was good, very filling, but the biggest disappointment was that the meat was just not hot enough which ruined it. We left most of the meat, we couldn't eat it as it was cold. Last, they brought out the desserts which were 2 small pieces of galaktobouriko (filo pastry with custard),and 2 small pieces of baclava. Desserts were average but ok. Overall, the banquet is a great choice, ample food, but the meat was only warm and disappointing. Ambience was good, as it was a Sunday night, there were only a few diners, the large LCD TV screens are good playing greek music clips all night. But, it was really hot in the restaurant, so much so that it was actually quite uncomfortable - they should do something about the temparature controls inside the restaurant. Overall, it was not a bad dining experience, but could do better (food wise and price wise) at other greek taverns around Melbourne..

Great time!
Greek food is one of my favourite cuisines, so I was more than looking forward to testing out what the Docklands had to offer.

I wasn't disappointed, the dishes were delish especially the restaurant's namesake dish the saganaki. Also the half-price cocktails weren't bad either ;-)

New Years Eve dinner- disaster in organisation
My family and I have been to this well-reputed restaurant on a few occasions but never were we so disappointed as our New Years Eve dinner last night! The service was dismal. We had an 8.30pm sitting and were kept waiting outside for 30min. The table wasn't set, the food (for the set menu price) was minimal and disgusting. Chicken was still raw at skewers, lamb full of fat, suckling pig...well!!! They were so short staffed the wait for a drink was over 30min! So they lost money on drink orders. Food was served before entree plates were taken away, and no wine list ever made it to our table till well after the main course. It was an absolute disaster - you want a tip - hire more staff on a busy night like that in future. You have lost our business and we will not recommend your restaurant to anyone on busy nights!

Not so nice
I must say as a Greek myself I did have high hopes for Saganaki.
The menu did have variety, but it was pricey (although I am used to Greek restaurants being pricey). We ordered as a starter pita bread with dips, when it came out (after a bit of a wait) my expectations were thinned, the pita bread seemed stale, the dips although ok I believe they were packaged dips (not homemade like most Greek restaurants that I've been to). Eventually things started to get hot, literally, the heater was on too high and we were absolutely boiling we asked the heater to be turned lower a few times but they did nothing. For the main meal I had the souvlaki, and it was the worst souvlaki I have tasted in my life. There was this huge metal stick that ran along the meat and was placed on top of the salad, it tasted horrible, the meat was very tough and not cooked to the way I asked - it was burnt on the outside and red in the middle, it was also warm not hot. Having been to many Greek restaurants in my life, I know what is Greek and how it should look and taste. Saganaki proved to me that you cannot make Greek restaurants into a top end "posh" restaurant.

We had a lot of issues with this restaurant. First of all the dolmades we had were tinned, not what you expect for the price you pay. Second of all the although the dips were relatively ok, the bread was moderately stale. Next we had the octopus. Now I like pickled octopus, however we decided to go for the char grilled octopus and we got pickled octopus that had been char-grilled, to me it tasted ok. But it was very obviously pickled octopus which my partner didn't like. It should have been char-grilled and char-grilled only, not pickled, especially for the price you pay. Now to the mains, my partner had kebab main and I had some sort of supposedly mince lamb pattie on mashed potato. The lamb was not so bad, but it was not seasoned, and had no flavour at all. However the salad was quite dismal with overripe squishy tomatoes. What I had did not taste like lamb at all, I am almost sure it was pork, it tasted like sausage roll meat, and I could only eat the mashed potato.

Overpriced
Coffee and cake at Saganaki on a Monday afternoon is not recommended. Our desserts were old, very old, and at $16 a pop for an average-sized dessert this just doesn't sut it with me.
Service was reasonable.

Birthday disaster
It was probably one of the worst experiences of my life. It was an extremely hot night, and everyone was thirsty, we would ask for water and they would tell us that they had run out of glasses. How a restaurant runs out of glasses is beyond me. The food took forever to arrive and the kids were getting restless by that stage. Also we were quoted one price when we booked the restaurant and were charged a 10% surcharge on the night.
