Restaurant Information

Saffrron

Aiming to achieve the number-one spot as one of the Territory's only carbon friendly restaurants, this eatery - offering a modern decor and a true cross-section of the varied cuisine of the subcontinent - will surely please those who enjoy their butter chicken (a classic North Indian dish). Utilising the most beautiful and bountiful seafood delights of the Darwin region works in this restaurant's favour, with dishes such as grilled barramundi marinated in ginger, garlic, lime juice and chilli.

Not what we were expecting
Good for the environment, but not so great for a meal.
The entree's were decent, and we should have stopped at that. The courses came out at a reasonable period apart and the entree size was decent. The mains did not meet expectations and really let the whole dining experience down. The roti bread was undercooked, the meat dishes were over salted and the rice flavour was over powering.
The service was well below par. The staff didn't really know the menu, let alone the ability to pronounce the dishes. The drinks service was non-existant, with the only glass being poured that of a glass of water at the beginning of the night. Our glasses weren't refreshed at any stage and the wine bottle was plonked on the table with a "here you go" comment, but they did ask if we wanted to taste before we poured ourselves.
The atmosphere was tampered by wooden floors causing lots of echo. The neon welcome sign should have rung alarm bells, not to mention the various different plastic seats available with fold up tables.
To cap it off, at exactly 9.32pm the tables were folded, chairs stacked and the vacuum started whilst tables were still occupied.
Sorry, but would not return in a hurry.
