Saffron Cottage is perched at the base of the spectacular Dandenong Ranges and every seat features a breathtaking view of one of Australia's most treasured natural habitats. The heat of tandoori dishes and a cosy open fireplace contrast beautifully with the fresh mountain air, making this charming Indian restaurant a local favourite.
Head chefs Karthik Karanam and Ashok Bal pride themselves on using only authentic Indian ingredients and methods in their kitchen. If you're adventurous, try the signature dish of chilli chicken - strips of succulent chicken marinated in soy sauce and ground fresh chillies, pan-fried in fragrant spices and cooked medium or hot. For the milder palate, the prawns cooked with mild spices and coriander simmered in fresh cream are hard to bypass.
