This ever-popular family restaurant is about as authentically Russian as any you'll find in Melbourne. The borsch is a rich, vegetable-y, beetroot-y bowl of warmth and goodness, and the Russian blintzes and pirozhky, Siberian pelmeni and Ukrainian vareniki are all much-loved and well executed versions of the classic dumplings. Chicken and lamb shashliks and fish dishes are also hugely popular, and with no corkage charge for BYO wine and spirits, this is always a buzzing spot.
