This modern space a stone's throw from the sea used to be Figgy's, which for 25 years had provided the good people of Brighton with alternative foods like vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free meals. The current owners, Dean Atkins and Zoe Proctor, have continued this tradition and, after giving the cafe an entirely modern makeover, began cooking up their organic, allergy-healthy food a few years ago. The breakfast menu contains all the usual free-range and organic suspects, but the lunch menu is out of this world, with popular favourites including the soba noodle salad (chilled soba noodles served with grilled marinated tofu, roast pumpkin, spinach, red onion, toasted sesame seeds and a sweet soy dressing) and the chickpea and coriander burger.
