The retro charm of Ruby's hits you as soon as you walk in; taking up the whole wall is the diner's title, scrawled out elaborately from one end to the other in the style of a tattoo, joined by images of birds and a giant cup of coffee. For all its '50s leanings, owner Ed Devlin describes the menu as "modern cafe", with dishes such as the organic beef burger; and trout gravalax with scrambled eggs and lemon enjoyed by the diner's frequent customers.

What a great find!
Rubys is great for breakfast, lunch or dinner. I have eaten at Rubys for breakfast and lunch and the food has always been fresh and good. They have just recently opened for dinner and my partner and I popped in for dinner on a Thursday night for a meal after the gym. We both had the lamb and cous cous meal for $18.00 pp and it was very good. The food was hot, spicy and we didn't have to wait too long. Its a small, casual cafe style with no pretentious service. This place would be fun if you took a great of 10 along. We will be going back again.
