Rubyos

Thoroughly embracing the newly popular share-plate phenomenon, Rubyos offers a grazing menu - a selection of modern Australian "tastes", which the kitchen sends out a few at a time - rather than traditional entrees and mains. That way you get a fuller communal experience by passing around the table delicious morsels such as flash-fried calamari, homemade veal sausage, baked baby eggplant, Peking duck and much more. It's one of the most schmick lookers of King Street, replete with white tablecloths, soft lighting and full-length glass windows where you can watch passers-by look on with envy.

A growing favourite
I visted friends in Newtown and this is one of their favourite restaurants. They're regulars and I was quite intrigued. This could also explain the great service.

I have previously tried Spanish tapas restaurants to much expense and hoohah! But this modern tapas dining experience is well worth the talk. The menu had recently changed and I recommend going with a group of at least 4 to trial your taste buds. We brought along our own wines so I can't really comment on their bar.

I recommend the tempura oyster for those who've never tried oysters cooked (this is completely different from your kilpatrick). Oh and don't miss the prawns!

something special
Rubyos is definately something special for Newtown.
The cuisine is unique and varied.
The cocktail list is amazing.
The wine list could be wider - I would have liked some aged options.
Have been here on 3 occasions. Extremely impressed.
Definately going back.
