Rubicon is a stylish restaurant which, despite being firmly entrenched in the Canberra restaurant scene, is still one of the national capital's best-kept secrets. Rubicon's innovative mod-European menu is skilfully prepared and artfully presented. Their Pacific oysters in chilli wine proved so popular with one US diplomat that they are now served in Washington as Rubicon Oysters!

Superb experience!
My partner and I were pleasantly surprised at both the quality and choice of the vegetarian options at The Rubicon. So much thought and creativity has gone into their vegetarian menu which, if you're a vegetarian too, you'll know how rare this is in Canberran restaurants. We were genuinely impressed!
The service was perfect. Attentive, organised, friendly and unobtrusive. We had such a beautiful experience at The Rubicon.

Always fantastic
Ahhhh, how I love Rubicon. I have eaten there numerous times and have not yet been unhappy about anything.
This time I ventured away from my usual Pork Belly followed by Duck and went with an entree of scallops with confit chicken and foie gras sauce. Oh my god. It was soooooo good. I could eat a bowl of that sauce.
I had eaten a big lunch so for main I had an entree sized stuffed zucchini flowers. Delicious! So delicate but so tasty.
Dessert was Apple Tarte Tatin. Good as always.
I will keep going back to Rubicon as it has never failed.

Lovely food, great atmosphere, efficient service
Lovely atmosphere, especially with the fairy lights in the back room. We were a large group though and did make a bit of noise, so smaller groups would probably prefer to sit towards the front of the restaurant.
Food was delicious although some mains were a bit small for the price (barramundi) and I thought my entree (pork belly) was a bit dry. Service was very efficient and helpful. Rubicon easily catered to one family bringing a small child.
My only complaint was that most desserts were alcoholic, restricting one person due to allergies. However the staff did suggest alternatives and offered to modify desserts where possible.
I was very pleased that the dinner I organised was remembered as a great night out and not a disaster - thanks Rubicon, we'll definitely be coming back again.

Disappointing
While the food was fine we were very disappointed by the service at Rubicon. When one of our group found grit in their sage ravioli there was no apology and we had to ask for him to have another dish - it was not offered. Maybe we were unlucky or perhaps they don't now have to try quite so hard.

Superb Canberra restaurant
This was the second meal I have had at Rubicon. The restaurant layout and atmosphere is lovely, but the terrace area can get very noisy when there are big groups dining, making for a less than intimate experience. The wine list is extensive, offering a good selection of wines by the glass and the half-bottle as well. Food is marvelous, with each dish standing tall on its own. Bold, confident flavours abound, and each dish is generously sized and presented perfectly. For the high quality of the dining experience, I consider Rubicon to be excellent value.

Excellent food and service
Our foodie friends have always told us about the great food at Rubicon. We finally got to try it for ourselves. The dinner service was excellent. Staff were attentive without being intrusive. The food, particularly the entrees and mains, were wonderfully cooked and very flavoursome. I had one of the specials and was very impressed. Dessert didn't blow us away, but was still very tasty and enjoyable. The decor was very elegant and I love the fairy lights in the outdoor room.
Very impressive restaurant. We will definitely be back!

Wow
I finally made it and was most impressed. The staff were friendly and attentive without being overbearing and the meals were well spaced out and bursting with flavour. The sizes were perfect and appetites sated with main and dessert. The back room was warm and inviting with a beautiful ceiling of tiny lights. The prices were very reasonable for the whole package. I can't wait to take another guest!

A nice take on cuisine
I had been meaning to go to Rubicon for awhile and when I finally arranged to have dinner there with my wife I was able to see what I'd heard so much about. There is an elegant charm about the whole place starting with simply walking in. The menu isn't huge but it still spans across a broad array of styles and tastes, as does the wine list. As much as I enjoyed everything that I ordered, my wife commented on her meal lacking flavour and even being a bit overdone. The friendly service helped make up for it though. I'm keen to return when they next change their menu with the seasons.

A Favourite!
This small restaurant in the Griffith shops has been consistently good and has improved over time with an expanded menu, including many vegetarian options and regular specials. I have eaten there many times and highly recommend it to those seeking a special event at 'value for money' prices, with very good food and caringly attentive service. Entree favourites include bourbon and mornay oysters (sounds '60s - tastes divine!), mains generally include very good duck and beef, and I recommend that you take a chance on the specials - not called special for nothing at Rubicon. Cheese is provided in accordance with your choice from a cheese menu, and there is a small dessert menu. Although small, Rubicon does not crowd diners and the back room is very pretty.

Great restaurant
I have been told by others that Rubicon is a great restaurant with good food and this was certainly the case when I visited. The service was attentive without being disruptive, the food was wonderful and the atmosphere pleasant (not noisey with nice surroundings). Would definitely recommend for a lovely night out!

Canberra's best
I've been to Rubicon quite a few times now and, on every occasion, have found the food to be exceptional and the service friendly and attentive. The food is carefully prepared and is perfectly balanced. Hands down, my favourite Canberran restaurant. Thanks Rubicon!
