This grand Victorian building houses one of Melbourne's coolest pubs. With its kitsch floral decor and a very impressive list of local and boutique beers on tap, it's little wonder the locals like to keep it a secret.
The streetside tables and chairs are perfect for soaking up the summer sun with an icy ale in hand, and the bistro serves up a concise but above-par pick of pub tucker. Melt-in-your-mouth Black Angus steaks come served with dauphinoise spuds, confit garlic and silky, house-made Cafe de Paris butter; the French have rarely lent their influence to such a thing of stodgy beauty.

A little disapointed.
I had heard this grand old place had been refurbished with new chef etc and was keen to try the produce. What a beautiful building, but thats as far as it goes,Im not sure this place knows what it is or where it sits ( its not a normal pub meal, yet its far from top notch dining) maybe somewhere in the middle. I went with a group of 5 others and to me the decor looks very 80,s mediterranean the staff are all dressed in black and would look comfortable attending a funeral. The food was of good quality and cooked well but seemed more aimed at the male market, very meat, meat and more meat feel about it. Whilst the staff looked a bit stuffy the service was good. Yes just a little dissapointed.
