This is not your average teahouse (the menu stretches far, far beyond tea and scones), nor is it an average bookshop (frequently winning awards as an independent bookseller), and with their powers combined these two businesses create a very unique dining experience. Although in separate areas of the building, the two businesses are incorporated as much as possible with regular book chats and author events taking place in the restaurant.
Even without the excitement of a book-loving event, you'll find it difficult to secure a table on the restaurant's peaceful timber veranda because the food here really attracts a crowd. Chef Darren Head spent years working in restaurants in Japan and there is a definite Asian influence to the menu. His sushi and rice paper rolls are as good as you'd find anywhere in the world. So purchase a new novel, take it into the restaurant and enjoy the first chapter over a plate of fresh sushi.
