Ciao Riva - it was a blast
Riva is a quiet little place and although I probably should give it a bit more based on this fact, I won't simply because it is lacking that buzz (not noise) you get in many other restaurants.
Riva is wrapping it up sometime soon, according to the owner, although they will re-open (lets hope with less rushed service). Food was impecable with good sized portions resonably priced (most mains $35) and the menu does rotate every so often to keep the avid foodie keen.
The wine list is also reasonably priced, with a good italian selection and some Aussies thrown in there for good measure (only 4 by the glass though).
Overall the staff do treat you warmly despite the rush, the food is a fantastic marrige of mod-Oz/Italian and should be tried, and the atmosphere albeit quiet, can be a nice break from the "blah blah darling" of Surry Hills. Give it a shot, purely for the fact that it is closing soon. Why not!
