This lucky sibling of Aqua Dining and Ripples at Milsons Point has snagged a truly opulent spot, virtually in the harbour waters at Chowder Bay Wharf. The heritage-listed Submarine Miners Depot has been refurb'd and given a much more glamorous purpose than was originally intended, housing a cafe and AquaMine function centre. The cafe, Ripples at Chowder Bay, is entirely alfresco, taking up the entire deck of the depot. Sail cloths protect the deck during inclement weather, but otherwise diners are free to soak up the glittering sunlight. The Italian-influenced menu includes pastas and risotti, but features plenty of light, fresh meals for a steamy summer lunch. Start with a few oysters, served with campari and lime vinaigrette, before dining on barramundi with olives, caper berries and fennel; or a classic fish 'n' chips.

One of my favourites
One of those places I could go to again and again (in fact I have). What's not to love about great food and a waterside setting in a national park that's not too far off the beaten track? One of the rare *really* good food venues in Sydney that is BYO.
Scallop entree was delicate and perfectly cooked. The lamb shank main (had to eat lamb on Australia Day) was tasty tasty... almost outdone by the accompanying gnocchi - I could have had a whole plate of that alone!
In fact we rate it so highly that we've booked it for our wedding reception. Highly recommended.

What a fantastic venue
Absolutely brilliant place. It poured with rain when we got there so they quickly and without fuss moved us to an indoor table. Great atmosphere. Fantastic food. No problems with service despite it being busy and chaotic for staff having to move everyone in from the rain. Very highly recommended and will definitely be back.

Highly recommended
My girlfriend and I had dinner on a weeknight and were very impressed. Firstly, the restaurant is BYO so that's a big plus. Secondly, the food was great and really surpassed my expectations. I had the blue eye cod with white beans & artichoke, my friend had the veal fillet, plus we had a side of steamed green vegies - it was all really delicious, the servings were very generous and our food came surprisingly quickly given the restaurant was pretty full (I had expected a wait). We also shared a dessert - the chewy meringue with rhubarb - and it too was really yummy. Thirdly, I thought it was good value. Our meal came to $40 a head which I thought was very reasonable given the great harbourside location & good food. Obviously the view is much more spectacular by day so I'm now planning a return visit at lunchtime.
