Steeped in history, yet thoroughly modern in its cool inner city outlook, Rigby's Bar and Bistro is one of Perth's much-loved super-venues, housing a restaurant, bar, balcony, garden courtyard, glass-roofed atrium and ample function rooms on its three levels. Located in a rustic replica of turn-of-the-century Perth mayor Lord Alexander Forrest's home, Rigby's provides a dose of timely charm to city slickers dropping in for business lunches.
The mod-Oz bistro menu puts seafood, steak, vegie and poultry dishes in pride of place, while the bar menu is more skewed towards burgers, chips and nachos. Highlights include the seafood platter of deep-fried fish, prawns, scallops, calamari and crab stick with chips and tartare sauce, as well as the Tortellini Alexander (its moniker taken from the mayor himself) with sundried tomatoes, broccoli and chicken breast in a cream sauce. With cheap two-course lunches including drinks, Rigby's is good value in both price and experience.
