Restaurateur Albasio La Pegna's vision was to bring a touch of classic European chic to Subi's sophisticated restaurant scene, creating a suitably elegant space for discerning diners to rub shoulders with the who's who of Perth. White and red flock wallpapers give the place a rather grand air, juxtaposed beautifully with piped jazz music and superb little touches such as the chandelier hanging over a zebra-striped chaise lounge, funky white leather booths and clear plastic bucket chairs along with an art deco mirror sitting adjacent to a tropical fish tank.
Of course, the dazzling decor isn't the only drawcard here. Albasio has created an exquisitely styled selection of fine Italian fare - think bresaola (air-cured beef), hazelnut-crusted lamb chops and blue manna crab angel hair pasta. For dessert, try the baby donuts with aniseed liqueur and warm chocolate sauce. The restaurant's bar boasts an inspired list of mostly original cocktails, plus a scrupulously sourced list of more than 75 Australasian, French and Italian wines (many available by the glass) and 90 liqueurs lining the wall behind the red leather-panelled bar.

Great after a pub crawl
Open-plan interior. Good wine list. We were served an ok meal although one and half hours after arrival. Bit over-priced. Staff were friendly and very apologetic about the late meals, owner was a bit snooty. Meals are more expensive than listed here, but were nice enough. Nothing to rave about. This place felt more like a retro, Euro-style cafe than a restaurant.

Great food, good service
We celebrated our wedding anniversary at Rialtos. The waiters were friendly and attentive - they kept an eye on our wine glasses and re-filled them right on cue! The food was very good. We had the cheese/artichoke dip with croutons foe entree which was superb. Our mains were the grilled seafood and lamb cutlets. Both cooked to perfection.
When I read the previous reviews I have to say that I was a little worried, but went to the restaurant on a friend's recommendation. Our experience was good overall and we will definitely go back to Rialtos.

Owner doesn't care
After reading a poor review on this restaurant from last year I wanted to believe it had changed so Wednesday night my dining partner and I went to give it another try.
I was pleased when i saw the owner himself working that night and I thought oh good we should get good service tonight as the man himself is working, how wrong I was.
We were sat down and given menus but not offered drinks, my parnter pulled up a waiter to order some and that was the last bit of service we recieved.
We both looked over the menu and deceided what we would eat but no one was approached us to take our order.
My dining partner (bless him) pulled up a waiter and asked if we could place our order, still ten minutes later no one returned.
Now our beers were finished, no one had been to see us so we decided it was not worth the wait.
My partner went to pay for the beers, the owner immediately stood at the till waiting to take money, when we pointed out what terrible service we experienced he really didn't care, sorry about that, that will be $21.90 he said. He made no effort to make us feel we should stay.

Change of pace from the rest...
Following OneManStarWars at Regal Theatre, we raced for a bite to eat at 8.45pm. Subi was booked out with a waiting list (sob); Arirang was also still totally full; Rialto's was next choice.
The service was pretty laid-back. I didn't find the staff snooty, but they were definitely absent when we needed to order/pay/ask for anything. I hadn't visited since Altos days, and the decor and lightened rooms were lovely at night - it looks a bit too bright during the day.
We had some plain bread to start which was overpriced and dry. We both had a beer and entrees only with a shared salad; I had the vitello with artichokes - melting meat, tangy salad; and my friend had calamari - tender, light batter, delicious.
We shared a tiramisu - $16 per item seemed too much for us to both get a dessert - our choice was divine though.
At $100 for the lot it was very nice, however think we could have been wiser with our money and just gone home after the show for a burger!
Wheelchair access good, flat throughout; easy-access parking very close - go east on Hay, thru arcade next to Arirang into the council and Wilsons car parks.

once bitten twice shy
Just thought we would try this one but sorry we did. Poor cafe level food with snooty waiters with attitude. Very, very disappointing all round; felt we had wasted our money.

Great food - lousy service
We had a really good night, food was great but the service was really bad. We had to call a waiter over when we wanted to order our meal, we were not asked once if we were ready to order. We also had to call the waiter over every time we wanted a drink, we even had to ask for cutlery for our desert.
