Downstairs is an exuberant bistro and wine bar, with some of the best wine selections in the city, while upstairs is a fine dining area. Ask for a window seat and you'll have a view on to the Botanical Gardens just as delicious as the western European flavours on the menu. Great cheese selection too.

great night in Brisbane.
My wife & I tried this place for dinner and were treated to a great night of fine dining. We were made welcome and able to experience some awesome food made with the greatest skill. I tried a Spanish champagne on offer to go with a seafood risotto and it was very nice. My wife is a picky eater at the moment and we enjoyed every morsel. The freshness of everything was obvious and our compliments must go to the chef.

Good.......but
Myself and a group of about 15 others had dinner at restaurant two. The service was great, our waiter knew what he was talking about, was happy to give us advice and handled the large number of us well. The atmosphere isn't that great, it's a very large restaurant with alot of open, empty spaces, it's very minimal and in general doesn't have an interior that makes you go "wow" or "nice." The food is good. First I had the Quail which was a good size, secondly I had the venison, the venison itself was nothing special nothing bad however the risotto that went along with it was delicious. Finally for desert I had the mango ravioli, which had an amazing fruit salad with mango, banana, lychee and mint. Overall the food at Restaurant Two is good but two things. Firstly you can get that type of food at other establishments for a lower price and secondly the menu is not very interesting or adventurous.
If you aren't too adventurous with your food and want a good meal with great service this place is for you. If you want to try something different or exciting this is not the place for you.

Fine dining at its best
After deciding to have a great night out in the city, my partner & I chose Restuarant Two after hearing loads of wonderful comments from friends. My partner has been here before for lunch and dinner.
We were impressed by the bar staff who gave us the "hidden" ingredient for making martini's - which were brilliant by the way!
The wait staff were professional, polished, friendly and catered to us throughout dinner.
The food was outstanding. Beautifully presented, exceptional proportions, bursts of flavour and was the complete package.
We were very happy with our experience at Restaurant Two. If you want to splurge on fine food, excellent wine at a great all round luscious restaurant this is the place to go in the city.
We will definitely be going back. Thumbs up for everything.

Totally amazing
I've been here for lunch and ordered a la carte and been here for two sit down dinner functions. The food on both occasions was fantastic and the service excellent. The winelist was also amazing. I highly rate this restaurant!

Dismal experience
The experience started as we walked in the door when we had to wait 4 minutes at the reception desk before a wait person came along and asked if she could help us. I wonder what she thought we were doing standing forlornly in the middle of the reception area. We had a reservation and were shown swiftly to the table. The wine list was good and the drinks came quickly, but we were there to eat. My partner had the carpaccio of wagyu for an entree, which was very good, but accompanied curiously by deep fried quail's eggs, a concoction looking and tasting exactly like deep fried bread crumbs; she had to slow her eating to a snail's pace when the requested bread took so long to arrive. I had shaved ham, which was excellent. The main courses were another matter. My partner had the lamb, which was soaked in a "jus" that tasted exactly like salt water flavoured with rosemary. The accompaniment was potato boulangere, but it looked like a slab of polenta. The meal was inedible, and I'm happy to say did not appear on the bill. My Black Angus steak was adequate for a pub steak but not what one should expect from a restaurant with this one's reputation. Having chased up the bread for the carpaccio and indicated the lamb was below standard, the wait staff became icily defensive so we decided not to bother with the desserts. Nor did we bother leaving a tip.

Hit and miss
We had dined at Restaurant Two before, and our reactions have been very mixed. With all the awards and highly priced menu, our expectations were high. This time around, we visited the restaurant for a work function and again, we found it a bit hit and miss.
The food was fairly prompt and the service was generally good. For entree, I ordered the ocean trout, and found it quite palatable. A little salty, but the flavour was nicely balanced with the scrumptious garnish salad. My partner had the scallops and he was impressed. Pricy, but good for this course.
The mains, on the other hand was the disappointment. I ordered the 'Black Angus' sirloin at $45 and, although medium, it was an effort to get into, and the taste was rather ordinary. Our local pub steak fares much better. My partner had the lamb, but fortunately he was impressed. His meal did look rather agreeable.
Desserts were excellent and the texture of the chocolate dessert and my partner's creme brulee was amazing. This I was impressed by.
In the two times that I have visited Restaurant Two, I have found it to be very hit and miss. For a restaurant with the amount of awards that it has and apparent reputation and pricy menu, I would have hoped for more consistency in quality. I might give it another go in the hope that I am third time lucky.

Surprising oasis of fine dining
It was wonderful to enjoy a restaurant which could stand up among the best in the country, indeed a rare find for this city. We had a larger group of diners (9) and unlike previous experiences in this city with groups of this size we were treated to fine service with each course arriving at our table together. Everything was served hot and fresh from the kitchen - the way it should be. I chose the tempura crab entree which was light and full of flavour; the venison main course (with red vegetable risotto and chocolate sauce) was to die for. And if that wasn't enough, the white chocolate cheesecake served with an abundance of strawberries was a great way to finish the meal. Having enjoyed the meal and the experience, we all agreed Restaurant Two was great and I for one would certainly do it all again.
