Rapide is small and a little off the beaten track, which helps keep the prices down. The provincial fare is exquisite and rich, with the cassoulet getting particularly good marks when it is on the menu. Bring a bottle of fine wine and enjoy without credit card guilt.

Camp Hill Delight
Ate at Rapide tonight and it was one of the best meals we have had out in a long time. The food was divine with sensational flavours. Service was good and the atmosphere friendly. Would definitely recommend this restaurant for a meal.

Looks good from the outside
We do not live far from this restaurant and thought we would try it for a night out close to home. We won't be going back again.
The wait staff got our first drinks wrong, so we were left with water for over 20 minutes. The food was not great, slightly overdone and certainly overpriced.
The service was below average, the food nice, but nothing interesting, in fact quite bland.
This restaurant has potential, if they choose the right wait staff and shake up their menu and drop their prices.

Great Neighbourhood Dining
Rapide has become our favourite place to dine.
Over the years even after a change of ownership the food never wavers in standard. Always professionally presented and served. Excellent work chef!
Always a wonderful experience.

Rapidly running away
I really expected a lot more from a so-called one chefs hat restaurant. Perhaps my expectations were too high but this was a major disappointment. Apart from a friendly lady who seemed to be the owner or manager and attended to us towards the end, the other two staff we dealt with were just plain uninterested. The two entrees of potato gnocchi and scallops were tasty but the mains of lamb and pork were not very innovative dishes and average at best. Overall, low value for money and certainly a place we won't be going back to.

Not exactly what we expected
My husband and dined at Rapide on a Saturday night, we had heard a lot of differing reviews about the one chef's hat restaurant nestled within the suburb's and were keen to try it out for ourselves.
Upon arrival we found that the restaurant was dreadfully quite with all conversations being echoed through the room therefore a dull whisper was needed.
There were at least 5 waiters standing behind the bar chatting away as though they were there for a gathering themselves, although this would have gone unnoticed within a larger restaurant, Rapide is a very small restaurant with minimal decor and even more minimal floor space so everything can be noticed and heard from a short distance...not recommended for a romantic outing or parents with prams.
Both our entrees and mains were good not great, not exactly what you would expect at a one chef's hat restaurant for the price paid. However as the night progressed and the diners trickled in the small wall to wall surroundings felt as though one was dining in a cage or a rock concert....very cramped and extremely LOUD!!!. Therefore instead of ordering dessert we decided to take some panadol and call it an early night, all in all an average night and one we will not be rushing back for more to.

A Hidden Gem
I dined at Rapide recently (Nov 2006) and was amazed at the food quality and service provided for a suburban restaurant. Staff were friendly and responsive while the food was fast and delicious. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends. Also wine is offered by the glass contrary to this website's remarks.
