Disappointed
Eating at Lureen's can only be described as disappointing. For a restaurant with higher end prices the service and standard of the food was average. The wait staff were less than courteous and main meals took more than 70 minutes to serve. With limited parking and no public transport options customers are certainly don't appear to be their priority.

Simply the best
After reading that Restaurant Lurleen's had been voted Best Restaurant in Queensland for the 2nd year in a row I just had to go and see for myself and am I glad I did. From Carrara it took us about the same time as getting to Main Beach after leaving the M1 it is a pretty drive along the Dugong tourist drive to arrive at what is really a quite outstanding facility. It turns out that the restaurant is part of the award winning Sirromet Winery Complex and the Restaurant is named after the Morris Family Matriach Lurleen Morris. Timeless architecture combining Rock and timber gives it a warm welcoming feeling . The Restaurant itself has an open kitchen which adds to the at home ambience . A friendly welcome from the neatly attired Maitre D led us to a table with a crisp white linen table cloth, linen napkins replete with sparkling cutlery and glassware. The food menu was amazing wild caught Barramundi, Fraser coast scallops, venison, duck, beef ,lamb, and much much more and all from local produce suppliers. The presentation service and attention to detail was first class. All our food was sublime the presentation spot on the flavours and textures testament to the genius Queensland has in chef Andrew Mirosch. This is a must visit must do at least once in your life restaurant. Interestingly we had previously been risk adverse to Queensland wine but experiencing Sirromet wines here has changed that they are very good indeed and great value We stocked up for home at the adjacent Cellar door and discovered 2 other casual dining areas perfect for a lazy Sunday. We are going to take our friends from Melbourne to have a bit of a skite about just how good Queensland wine and food can be.

Seriously overrated and disappointing
This restaurant seriously falls below the standards that I would expect from a much lesser eating out establishment.
I went to this restaurant based on the alleged high calibre of food and service, and was sadly disappointed with both. After such a build up, I found that the results were comparable only to the normal fare you would expect at a run of the mill $25 a main restaurant
The staff did not appear to have much knowledge of the food and wine that is on the menu, which is far below the standard I would expect for a degustation menu. While the service was adequate, the lack of information and descriptions of the food and wine from the serving staff seriously reduced the impact of their degustation menu
We were seated in an enclosed outdoor area which was not heated in any way (in the middle of winter), disappointing considering most pub bistros can manage that.
I was served food I didn't order (and I was allergic to) and when I pointed this out the staff didn't do anything to rectify it; If this happened at McDonalds they would offer you a replacement meal.
We were also disappointed to discover with our bill that we had been charged $3 each for a bread roll that was offered to us after we had ordered our meal. Also the price charged for the degustation menu was $25 more than was advertised on their website.
Finally, when I contacted the food and beverage manager with this information, while she was apologetic, she did nothing to make me feel like I might dine there again and said she would send me an email when she had investigated my concerns, which to date I am still waiting for.

Beautiful restaurant
We have been 3 times now, and it's by far the most beautiful resturant experience on the south side. Pity its so far from everything. Now they just need to supply accommodation as part of their boutique winery, or a courtesy vehicle. You can never get a cab our there to pick you up after dinner and its a shame to have to drive when indulging in a fine-dining experience at a winery.
