The food at Restaurant Como is as good as at many of Sydney's waterfront venues, which is why it is so unfortunate that it is located at the back of a shopping centre facing a carpark. Fortunately the wonderful food affects a kind of progressive myopia on the consumer, with the decor and the view becoming more blurry and indistinct with every mouthful (nothing to do with the wine, honestly!) Chef Grant Farrant changes his menu monthly, but one can be confident that his creations will strike a good balance of creativity and flavour harmony.

Como in Blaxland
I was taken to Como on the recommendation of an old friend from Warimoo when I was visiting Australia. I was totally amazed by the sheer quality of the food, and the service. This is international cuisine class in a tiny town like Blaxland. The owners Julie and Grant have trained their young and enthusiastic staff well. It started with a tiny cup of the best soup I have ever tasted which arrived unannounced as a palate-cleanser, followed by a main course, different for each of us, each which was simply perfect. Although the portions were small, nouvelle-cuisine style, it was so beautiful that we didn't need any more. However, forcing down a portion of perfect quince ice cream, we rounded off our BYO wine well served. Recommendation? You bet! Book now before it becomes so hot that you wont get in. Already their gastronomic nights are booked up well into the future. And the price was good too. I cant remember what we paid, but worth every penny. Ok so it fronts onto a car park in a back lot, but hey, so what!
