2009 Gourmet Traveller WINE Wine List Guide - "This list might appeal more to the wine-obsessed than the general public but a few very well-priced wines provide the opportunity for exploration and experimentation."
Gourmet Travller 2009 Australian Restaurant Guide - "Not for Balzac the school of plating fish with nothing more than salt or a drizzle of oil. Dishes here justify their place on the menu with deft saucing and accomplished accompaniments."

Better than expected
I first went to restaurant balzac about 3 years ago when it was a 1 hat restaurant. I liked it a lot, then the food became a little dull and didn't taste so good. Recently I decided to go there again. I went in not expecting much. It was a Tuesday and the service was pretty good. The wine list was decent. I had the carpaccio of marlin, the sirloin and the chocolate fondant. All three courses was pretty good.
