Chef Darren Templeman, a protege of master French chef Bruno Loubet, developed an enviable following in Newtown, and can now be found in Glebe. His modern food builds from a solid French base, and starters are particularly creative, such as bourbon-cured ocean trout ballotine with herb fromage blanc and watercress. Templeman's partner, Bernadette Samardzija, runs the floor with enthusiasm and warmth and will happily match appropriate wine selections to your meal.

Two words: Life. Changing.
We were in Sydney for a non-trashy hens weekend. The bride to be loves French food so I came looking on this site. Atelier ticked the boxes so I decided to book us in here and I'm glad I did!
A table of 10 women who adore fine dining and not one person at the table had anything negative to say about the entire experience.
Service was excellent very amusing, attentive without being pushy or stalker-ish, knew the menu backwards (and I m guessing sidewards). Nothing was too much trouble and they brought out a free dessert for the bride to be. If the food was any better I would have needed a private moment and every single person at the table managed to fit in 3 courses because we just couldn t stop eating. Great atmosphere, excellent wine list and very reasonable prices.
We had a fantastic night and we ve all vowed to take our partners back there when we go to Sydney again. Thank you to the chef & front of house for a sensational night.

Unpretentious fine dining and style
The mid week dinner special was a special treat for the four of us, esp with wine & dessert wine but the welcome, food: choice/presentation/& its hit on all senses and service made for a truly epicurean experience without being over the top.

Excellent
We find it difficult to find cuisine and service of this standard anywhere west of the city. The menu is really well balanced offering choices that promise a gastronomic experience. We weren't disappointed. Dishes delivered quality ingredients, superior technique and excellent presentation.
We were all particularly pleased by the quality of service. We are tired of the arrogant and pretentious standards that are the norm in Sydney restaurants. Not here - warm, friendly, welcoming, knowledgeable people. This is a restaurant that works hard and you can feel the enthusiasm and pride. Go there and splurge.

Last night's visit
We visited the restaurant last night for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We found the service to be attentive and helpful despite the busy night although we had read in the SMH good food guide that it had its problems. We liked the ambience of the place too but the real star was the food. A very imaginative food and wine menu and we absolutely loved the food.We hope the chef will accept this very genuine compliment. We will certainly be back. Have to try the degustation menu. Many thanks again for a thoroughly enjoyable evening.

Fine food, but watch out for the hidden costs..
A party of eight of us dined at this restaurant recently and enjoyed our meal, right up until they brought us the bill. There at the bottom of the bill they had charged us 17 bottles of wine's corkage at $8 a bottle! We counted up the bottles that we had brought and it came to 11. Corkage was advertised at $5 a bottle, but the owner decided "did us a deal" and 'only' charged us 13 bottles at $8 corkage, still more bottles than we brought and more than that had been advertised as corkage costs. We paid (including gratuity) and left.
It was a pity that a night of fine food had to leave such a sour taste in our mouths, but now at least we'll know to clarify some prices beforehand (despite advertising to the contrary!).
