horrid.
My partner and I decided to try this restaurant that had been given so much glory in the past but unfortunately I was disappointed. The service was incredibly slow and impatient and the waitor spilled half a glass of wine onto my partners lap which spoiled most of the evening. Thankfully, the food was splendid, an incredible array of technique, flavour and presentation was shown in the food but to our dismay did not reflect on the terrible service and poor decor and for the price tag I was expecting so much more... Back to Jackson's it is then.

Meh
My experience was quite similar to Roganru's. The service was very good. I personally prefer my waiters to be friendly and come to take my plates away when I am done, but I think the service is just a tad too much for me. When I got up to walk to the restroom, and had my dirty napkin on the chair, I came back to find it folded and on the table. My friend said the waiter had headed towards our table as soon as I left. We had a good laugh about this. We had about 4 waiters that attended to us throughout the night and all were very polite and gave us a lengthy description of each dish which I didn't really want as they spoke too fast and I couldn't remember every ingredient they listed. It would have been much easier just to have a menu! I know some people prefer that kind of service than what I like 'give me the food and leave me alone'. Oh, and my favourite waiter/waitress (she is also the cheese person) of the night is the girl in the bandana. Very friendly and felt relaxed around her. Too bad she wasn't our main waiter. :) Some dishes were quite unusual and had interesting flavours but none blew me away. The kingfish, watermelon and horseradish was the first dish that had what I called 'freezer stuff'. It turned out to be powdered horseradish and it reminded me of the taste of when you take out a frozen water bottle out of the freezer and it has that peculiar unpleasant taste. Several of the following courses also had this 'freezer stuff' which fortunately did not taste like it at all. It just seems unnecessary to have so many powdered ingredients.
The marron with fried chicken skin, pickled cucumber and sliced onion was nice. How can one not like fried chicken skin? The marron was also one of my favourite ingredients of the night. The cucumber was refreshing and had a lot of flavour to it. The dish was then topped with a parmesan consomm?? A bit too strong for me personally but I can imagine others liking it.
The barramundi, crab ravioli and topped with a corn and crab foam course was bizarre to me and the foam was quite offputting. The barramundi was great and cooked perfectly but I disliked the foam. There is no way to make foam look good.
I'm surprisingly disappointed that none of the main courses satisfied me. The favourite courses of the night were the lemongrass and lime sherbet palate cleanser which gave me a nice kick on the first bite. Very yummy. Both desserts were lovely as well, which was unusual as I'm not usually a big fan of desserts.
I would like to go back again one day to see what the hype is about but not any time soon as I don't think it's worth paying that much for food I don't love. The dishes are constantly changing so perhaps I will like it next time. Decor can certainly be improved as well. Also suggest you have a light meal or snack before you come because the degustation takes about 3 and a half hours and the dishes are VERY small. There is often a long wait between each dish and we came home slightly hungry.

Very overrated
I will start out by saying that the service and the wine were superb. The meal, however, was one of the worst we have ever experienced. The chef is trying too hard to be tricky, and has contorted every ingredient and mismatched flavours. You seriously can't have an appetiser that consists of white chocolate mousse (with chunks that weren't melted) with caviar and truffles! It was a bad start to the meal but the courses really didn't improve. The natural flavours of the ingredients did not come through and "tricks" were repeated throughout courses - most courses had "snow" - like dried coconut oil or frozen horseradish, or little quenelles shaped with teaspoons. The decor is also quite down-market - very modern Bali. We had heard such great reports, but the menu changes monthly - hopefully it will be better next month!

3rd Visit - Still WOW!
In the last 15 months we have been here 3 times. Impressed on every visit.
Don't be fooled by the drab red brick exterior. The inside is minimilist style at its best. Perfect for both a romantic dinner or catch up with good friends. Of note is the ample spacing of tables - every table feels very private.
The food is outstanding. The chef is a genius. Great techiques that are rare to find in Perth. The matched wines were a winner for us as well - good mix of Aust producers and Spanish/German/Chilian.
The service was exceptional. Warm, knowledgable, attentive - overall outstanding. A waitress remembered us from earlier in the year.
My wife is a terrible customer - very fussy with her food (no game, seafood, etc). However they are more than willing to accommodate. Also baby friendly - no issues with our 6 week old daughter.
Highly reccommend - we will be back for sure.

Sensational
This place knows its stuff. If you want a culinary journey then look no further. The food is faultless. The matching wines bring a different level to the food in how it is constructed and enjoyed. It was a seamless progression from start to the finish which lasted 4 hours.
I sampled things I had always wanted to try such as sea urchin and it was excellent.
I would love to see the dining room with some more colour, but if you love your wine and food then I can't think of one place in Perth that is doing it like Restaurant Amuse or better.

Pure gastronomic indulgence
I would totally recommend this place to anyone who appreciates quality food. We went for our anniversary and had pretty high expectations, after hearing glowing reports from friends. We were not disappointed in the least! The flavours in each dish were out of this world (especially the gnocchi starter) and the service, for the most part, was utterly professional. Each dish was the perfect size, leaving just enough room for the one that followed. The ambience of the place was lovely once inside (don't be fooled by the exterior, which looks more like a '90s red brick villa than a world-class restaurant). All in all, an absolutely amazing dining experience. We'll be sure to return for that next special occasion.

This is a winner!
This new restaurant has leapt right to the top of our favourites list. An inventive menu, flawlessly executed using top quality produce by extremely talented chef Hadleigh Troy made this a memorable experience. The ambience is elegant without being stuffy, and the service is friendly and knowledgable. Don't miss this one!

I died at the table
Everything was perfect! The wine glasses, the time between meals, the staff and the food. The food was out of this world. I still get shivers thinking about the salmon. I wouldn't take large groups of people, it's really intimate and special.

Something special!
Perth has been waiting for this restaurant! It is shaping up to be something truly special. It is a serious dining room while at the same time being warm, intimate and inviting. The young couple who run it have CVs that read like the who's who of restaurants around the world - they have just returned home to Perth and their hardwork is certainly paying off. My wife and I agree that it will soon be hard to get a table there.
