Situated at the more peaceful end of Ainslie's strip of shops and eateries, 2602 offers the sort of relaxed and friendly atmosphere that is prized in a neighbourhood local. Open as a cosy cafe during the day, 2602 is known for its great value breakfasts. However, at lunch and dinner, chef Ben Eveille gets to show off his skill with seafood with his marine critter-based menu. The seafood antipasto platter is a vibrant collage of colours and flavours - from tender baby octopus and king prawns to salty purple kalamata olives. A family-run (and family-friendly) enterprise, 2602's greatest strength is its open and approachable style, making it an asset to the postcode.

Just fine for suburban food
Casual quiet wednesday night. Dory was superb, oysters were Coffin Bay and these are always good. Scallops slightly on the small side and some just a smidge overcooked. Desserts were really good. Blueberry cheesecake was a winner, not too sweet , with a berry coulis and vanilla bean icecream to sweeten it up, lovely. Pavlova was one of the best Ive ever eaten, soft but firm again not overly sweet, simply sublime. Prices slightly on the high side, but you gets what you pays for.... Service was friendly and casual, with a touch of care and concern as they obviously want you to enjoy. Put the waiter onto the 'challenge' of making a smiley-face in your flat white. We'll be back.

Amazing seafood and excellent service
Service was great, friendly, genuine but subtle. Food was amazing. We had the seafood platter and it was more like a degustation menu - not one big lump of cold and fried seafood - but a beautiful selection of restaurant prepared seafood dishes. By far one of the best seafood meals I've had ever! I'm so happy to find a fabulous seafood spot inland. We'll be back for sure.

Excellent quality fresh seafood
I am disappointed that the previous review depicts all from this great local restaurant. I took my partner to celebrate a very important anniversary here and can not mention how lovely and importantly how fresh the seafood was. We had a seafood platter and have not seen anything like it in all our experience of seafood platters all over the world. Everything was fresh with no deep fried surprises. The oysters were just so moist and the fish just falling apart from our folks. I would highly recommend this seafood platter to anybody we followed on with dessert hoping it would please too and it certainly did, we had this beautifully presented violet crumble parfait the chef certainly knows how to cook, it was so yummy! We will be back to explore more of this great little restaurant. Must mention too that the service was spot on and not to over the top. Extra little surprise at the end was the plate of mm's we were told this has been a tradition since the restaurant opened 5 years ago.

Very average meal
After looking for a seafood restaurant to take my mother out for mother's day, I had read the positive reviews on this site about 2602 and decided that it sounds like a great place. I had booked a table for three, to my disapointment the table was situated next to the main door and a service cupboard. The food came out quite quickly. The fish was very bland and tasteless. There was no salt or pepper available at the tables, which might have salvaged the tastless aspect of the meal. After paying $40 per head for what was meant to be a good seafood restaurant, I left very disapointed and will never return.

Not the best service!
Everyone remarked on how good the food was. I was disappointed that the fish had a mango sauce, it wasn't listed on the menu and I don't like mango. All commented on freshness of the seafood. The blackboard menu wasn't up-to-date given a dessert wasn't available much to the disappointment of the ladies. Seemed disorganised but the food was good.

Top choice for lovers of good quality seafood
I celebrated my birthday at 2602 along with my family and a few close friends. Everyone agreed that the meals were well worth the money. Not only was everyone impressed by size of the meals but also by how tasteful, well presented and fresh the food was. The service was ok but not outstanding, however the food far out weighed that. If you enjoy fresh tasting seafood I would definitely recommend 2602.

Best seafood in Canberra
I decided on a night out for the girls and picked 2602. Not only me but all other parties agreed that 2602 serves the freshest and yummiest seafood in Canberra. The 2602 cocktail was tipped the 'best' cocktail ever invented. The service was awesome and the waitstaff know their stuff and I recommend this restaurant to all who appreciate fresh seafood great service and good value.

Sally
My partner and I went to 2602 for our romantic Valentine's dinner. As a special occasion, we planned to have 3 courses. The food was all delicious and some of the best Naroom oysters I have tried. The meal sizes were large meaning my partner and I had to share a dessert, which I was disappointed with as I wanted to have one to myself! Overall, it was a beautiful and romantic evening.
