This South-East Asian cafe keeps its secrets well; if you were a stranger, just ambling by, you probably wouldn't stop here. The unassuming little shopfront is tucked away on a hard-to-find offshoot of Smith Street Mall. There's a pointer sign in the mall directing people in to the small restaurant, which is decorated with a somewhat dated colour scheme, glimpsed through salmon-coloured Venetian blinds. However, those in the know aren't put off for a second. Sometimes the simplest restaurants are the best and this is definitely the case with Rendezvous.
The modest size of the restaurant's kitchen doesn't seem to stop them producing high-quality fare, including a truly sensational laksa - a rich and creamy coconut broth filled with rice noodles and topped with slices of hot chilli. There are other fabulous-looking meals on the menu, but if you're only here once, the laksa is touted as the house special for good reason.
Inside, the booth seats are cosy and quaint. There are a couple of outdoor tables as well, which overlook a green and tropical courtyard. These alfresco tables adjoin a main thoroughfare and offer decent people watching, but you'll have to deal with a constant stream of people perving at your meal.

This little restaurant is simply fantastic!!! The food is amazing and although the place is small, the 'cosiness' makes it feel quite exclusive. Book ahead for lunch though - it can get very busy.
