Get to know good food and fine wine at once at this unique and ambitious amalgam of a French bistro, wine bar and retail wine centre. French owner and chef Remi Bancal, from Glencoe Rural Retreat, brings years of culinary expertise to Remi de Provence, infusing his a la carte menu with provincial flavours in everything from fricassee and casserole to creme brulee and beyond. Gustatory travellers will be more than pleased to pick something from the stellar cellar of Remi de Provence (especially given that the myriad imported Gallic and European wines can be matched perfectly with the food).

Brillaint asset to Hobart's restaurant scene
From the moment we walked into Remi, everything met and exceeded our expectations. This is a great little find and asset to Hobart and one which as many people as possible need to experience. The food is sublime. Perfectly cooked. Twice cooked lamb is undescribaly brilliant and the Cassoulet is just delicious. We love the concept on the choosing your own bottle of wine from the wine cellar. Remi is the ultimate host and is always on hand to answer any of your questions. The decor is straight our of a cave in France and brings back so many memories for my husband and I. Well done.

disappointing sub-bistro fare
We went for dinner last night and I feel compelled to inform all about this place. Hoping for a great meal we were sadly disappointed with sub-bistro food. Service however was good and the fit out was elegant but this didnt make up for the tiny portions that were laid in front of us for our mains. The menu is very average and nothing to get to excited about. Cheese selection is good but 30 gram servesfor $13 is a bit mean. We selected $100 worth of wine from their cellar and on presentation of the bill we had then been slugged another $30($10 per bottle) for corkage. We felt like this was a gouge and really tainted our night. The manager encourage us to select from their cellar and failed to inform us about the additional charges that would be incurred. I took the manager to task about the charges and found him very arrogant and righteous. I think he has a lot of learning to do in the food industry. Disappointed!!!!!
