Most people are introduced to Red Star by a friend. One who lives in Surry Hills, Waterloo or the surrounding area and raves about their pizzas incessantly. It is something of a local cult, this little pizza joint, and one that is made even more ubiquitous because of its wide home-delivery web.
It is a cult worth joining and its produce is worth experiencing fresh from the pizza oven. Tucked up under one of the anonymous modern apartment buildings, the ones that have been popping up around the area like multi-story rashes of late, Red Star is easy to miss, but not so easy to forget once you've located it and dined there.
The Sista always receives rave reviews. Those in the know suggest the addition of Italian sausage to spice it up a little. The pasta selection is comprehensive and well-priced. If you have any room left for sweets, the brownie is well worth sampling.

Red Star Rocks Crown Square
Red Star has been our favourite local cafe/restaurant for about three years now. Consistently good coffee and food, especially the eggs Benedict (with smoked salmon) and the veal. The pizzas are sensational, not heavy and greasy like those at the franchises tend to be, these are the real deal. A lovely selection of desserts and home-baked cookies are always on hand and the team there are friendly and seem to love what they do.
